Matisse High Tooth Gesso water based ground is a modern version of the traditional gesso mix of rabbit skin glue and chalk. Specially formulated for encaustic painting, with a lower proportion of acrylic binder to solids, making it a more absorbent and receptive surface for wax based paints. Specially formulated white ground for encaustics. This permanent, flexible water-based ground, with a high tooth finish has a bright white matte finish. Matisse High Tooth Gesso offers extra tooth and absorbancy when compared to regular Gesso’s making it an ideal ground for encaustic work, soft pastels and oil pastels.
